LSE-listed copper producer Kazakhmys had noted an announcement by Eurasian Natural Resources that it was considering a takeover bid for the company, but had not received any proposals, the Kazakhstan-focused miner said on Thursday.

A further announcement would be made “as appropriate”.

Eurasian Natural Resources, which mines and processes ferroalloys, iron ore, bauxite and manganese in Kazakhstan, said on Wednesday that it was “constantly reviewing a number of strategic opportunities”.

“One of the opportunities that is at the early stages of being evaluated is a potential combination of its business with that of Kazakhmys,” the firm said.
