JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Copper miner KAZ Minerals has appointed Intertek FD John Hadfield as its new CFO, effective January 1.

Before joining the UK arm of Intertek, Hadfield spent over 14 years at BG Group and Royal Dutch Shell.

Hadfield’s appointment follows the April 27 announcement that current CFO Andrew Southam will take up the reins as CEO and that current CEO Oleg Novachuk will become chairperson, with director Michael Lynch-Bell his deputy.

Simon Heale, who is currently the nonexecutive chairperson of the company, will retire from the board at the end of 2017, having served 11 years as director, including five as chairperson.

KAZ also on Monday announced the appointment of Alison Baker as an independent nonexecutive director, effective October 9. Baker, who will be a member of the audit committee, has nearly 25 years’ experience in the provision of audit, capital markets and advisory services in positions at PricewaterhouseCoopers and Ernst & Young.

KAZ is listed on the London, Kazakhstan and Hong Kong stock exchanges.
