JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Base and precious metals explorer Kagara has reported that assay results for its Lounge Lizard nickel sulphide deposit, in Western Australia, had confirmed the high nickel tenor of the project’s massive sulphide mineralisation.
The Lounge Lizard project recently mined and processed around 2 295 t of nickel ore, which had diluted grading of around 3,7% nickel.
Three large intersections of massive and matrix nickel sulphides have also been returned from the resource definition-drilling programme. Although the intersections have been drilled at a low angle to the Lounge Lizard mineralisation, and it is difficult to estimate true widths, these three holes have demonstrated that the massive sulphide mineralisation is very robust at this depth, Kagara said.
Assays have not yet been received for these intersections but typically, intersections of this nature assay between 5% and 10% nickel, the company added.
The Lounge Lizard project is estimated to have a high-grade resource of 1,15-million ton resource, at 4,6% nickel.
