South African distributor and maintenance service provider for Hyundai earthmoving equipment High Power Equipment (HPE) Africa has launched its new range of -9 Series Hyundai excavators into Southern Africa.

The new range replaces the existing -7 Series excavator range, and is suitable for mining, quarrying, construction, plant hire and demolition applications.

“The -9 Series has up to 16% improved fuel efficiency, a new cab, reduced noise levels, standard air-conditioning, joystick controls, a new control panel with on-board monitoring system and a built-in rear-view camera,” says HPE Africa marketing manager Kirsty Denholm.

Service access and maintenance have been given close attention, with the inclusion of remote access through global positioning system (GPS) data transfer for service analysis, explains Denholm.

“As a result of using the high-quality, fine-tuned components, service intervals have been extended on filter changes at 1 000 hours and hydraulic oil changes at 5 000 hours.”

“The smart hydraulic systems feature variable volume high-pressure pumps coupled with an advanced control valve system, allowing optimum use of available power. The synergy between the pumps and main control valve offers enormous operational benefits to the operator,” Denholm highlights.

Meanwhile, the company plans to introduce its 120 t -9 Series excavator next year.

However, HPE Africa’s 80 t -7 Series excavator is still in popular demand, says HPE Africa sales representative Danie Steyn.

HPE Africa GM Neil Sauls adds that the demand for the 80 tonner is healthy, owing to its successful application in mining and construction operations, such as platinum, coal, demolition and bulk materials handling.

The company is supplying 12 of the 80 t excavators to various chrome and platinum mines in Rustenburg, and has received orders for its 120 t excavator at the same mines.
