Remote hospitality provider Fedics Site Services, a division of South African black-owned hospitality services and facilities management company Tsebo Outsourcing Group, will showcase its failsafe catering and housekeeping solutions for remote locations at the 2012 Investing in African Mining Indaba.
Fedics’ record of successfully bringing catering services and facilities management to isolated projects across Africa has earned it the position of being the market leader in this sector throughout sub-Saharan Africa, says Fedics regional director Andrew Sinclair-Laing.
“The Investing in African Mining Indaba is an ideal forum for Fedics to connect with mining operations on the continent and we will be using the opportunity to present our vast experience in turnkey operational and supply chain support for remote camp management and on-site catering,” he adds.
Fedics is the only specialised company of its kind in South Africa and has provided its catering and housekeeping solutions in remote and hostile areas across sub- Saharan Africa since 1972. Its footprint has reached Angola, Botswana, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Swaziland, Uganda and Zambia.
The company offers fully consultative, tailored and holistic solutions to its clients across various cultures and nationalities.
Sinclair-Laing believes that the company’s extensive experience throughout Africa and its knowledge of local languages, laws and cultures enable it to accommodate governmental, national and cultural considerations in any area, which is important to the success of a project.
Fedics’ service offering includes the erection of site buildings or tented camps, along with furnishings, fittings and air conditioning.
Further, catering services and equipment, as well as kiosk and bar services, site refrigeration, water purification plants, recreation services and facilities, cleaning and laundry services, security, facilities management and training of local staff also form part of Fedics’ services.
Some of the company’s previous projects include supplying purified water to 650 people in a desert location for 15 months, feeding 500 miners three meals a day for 18 months and catering for athletes at the seventh and eighth All Africa Games in Johannesburg in 1999 and in Abuja, Nigeria, in 2003.
Sinclair-Laing says Fedics Site Services and its parent company, the Tsebo Outsourcing Group, are committed to supporting the economic development of the communities in which it operates.
