East Rand-based Honingcraft manufactures and supplies honed hydraulic cylinder tubes, hard-chromed shafts and cast iron bars for the hydraulics industry.

With premises in Germiston’s Wadeville industrial area, the company also provides a range of services, including honing, grinding, machining and chroming.

Established in 1993, the 61-employee company, which is wholly owned by CEO Gerhard Hauptfleisch, boasts fixed assets that include horizontal and vertical honing machines; grinding, polishing and chroming facilities; welding machines; centre lathes; and boring mills.

Honingcraft is an ISO 9001:2008-certified company and the covered area of its factory is 3 952 m2.

The company has four divisions, namely Chroming, Honing, Machining and Cutting.

The Chroming division produces new shafts and also refurbishes customers’ shafts, while the Honing division hones the company’s own material for stock and provides a honing service for clients.

The Machining division manufactures components, barrels and rods for clients, while the Cutting division cuts Honingcraft’s own material.

The main input materials used by Honingcraft include ST52 hydraulic cylinder tubing, CK45 chromed bar and induction chromed bar, cast iron, mild steel and hollow bar.
