Pneumatic equipment manufacturer Haskel International has successfully completed performance verification testing as described by the American Petroleum Institute (API) standards, for its BuTech subsea valves used in oil and gas production.

Tests demonstrated the integrity of the subsea valves in accordance with the standard. The company reports that the data supports the assurance that BuTech subsea valves meet performance, safety and reliability expectations in the deepest water and some of the harshest environments in the industry.

The valves were subjected to hydrostatic and hyperbaric testing and calibrated temperature baths, which simulate the extreme heat and cold common in operating situations for the valves.

Tests proved the valves meet all the relevant criteria contained in API 6A’s nineteenth edition. This standard is recognised around the world as the specification for pressure control systems in wellhead and distribution equipment used for the production of oil and gas.

The tests were certified by risk management company Det Norske Veritas’s (DNV’s) classification. The company approved the test procedures, verified the performance testing results, witnessed the product teardown and issued an official project summary report covering the scope of the DNV inspection.

The BuTech brand of high-pressure valves, tubing, fittings and accessories was established in 1973 and has been a member of the Haskel International group since 1999. Haskel International has been a business unit of the industrial group of Hamilton Sundstrand, a United Technologies company, since 2004.

Haskel International manufacturers pneumatically driven high-pressure liquid pumps, gas boosters and air-pressure amplifiers.
