Recognising the trends and developments that shape the mining industry across the value chain, occupational health, safety and environmental risk management services provider NOSA aims to establish itself as a leading innovator in terms of occupational risk management in the mining sector, says innovation head Dr Deonie Botha.

She tells Mining Weekly that this will enable the organisation to proactively align its service offering with the current demands of the African mining industry.

With this is mind, NOSA will use the platform provided by the 2015 Investing in African Mining Indaba to showcase the organisation, its capabilities and its services to the global mining community.

The Mining Indaba will take place at the Cape Town Interna- tional Convention Centre and run from February 9 to 12.

Botha says the event will present an ideal opportunity to shed some light on the need for innovation in occupational risk management.

It will also enable NOSA to identify companies and research institutions to approach with which to form collaborative research partnerships in its endeavour to develop and commercialise locally relevant and globally competitive products and technologies.

Experienced Service Provider
Botha highlights that NOSA has a well-established reputation in the field of occupational risk management services, adding that the organisation is continually working towards innovative solutions to meet the ever-changing business environment.

“These solutions enable clients to create a safe working environment for their workforce, which improves business performance.”

Botha tells Mining Weekly that NOSA’s mining division, NOSA Mining, which has several years of experience in occupational health and training services, also offers health auditing and consulting to the mining industry.

She says NOSA Mining operates globally and can assist mining companies by providing them with solutions, training programmes and consulting services with regard to occupational risk management, as well as integrated risk management assessment services for mine sites and mining-specific work-at-height safety training courses.

These courses, which are offered at all the NOSA training academies across Southern Africa or at clients’ premises, are presented by qualified and experienced practitioners.
