Hastings upgrades resource at WA rare earth project
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Rare earths junior Hastings Rare Metals has reported a 230% increase in the Joint Ore Reserve Committee-compliant resource at its Yangibana project, in Western Australia.
The project’s total resource increased from 45 000 t of total rare-earth oxides to 103 000 t, with the total project resource estimated at 6.79-million tonnes, grading 1.52% rare-earth oxides.
The resource upgrade followed from a Stage 2 drilling programme, which started in late August and ended in October. Hastings noted that the most significant increase in the resource flowed from the Yangibana North prospect, where an improved understanding of the geological controls of the mineralisation improved definition of the target mineralisation.
Hastings has launched a scoping study to determine the economic viability of the Yangibana project.
