JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – South African-focused miner Harmony Gold has appointed Hannes Meyer as its financial director, effective November 1.
Meyer, who is a qualified chartered accountant with more than 13 years experience in the mining industry, succeeded former financial director Frank Abbott, who was appointed as an executive director of the Harmony board responsible for strategic planning.
“Hannes certainly brings with him vast knowledge and experience of the mining industry from a financial perspective and this will be an asset to Harmony. We welcome Hannes to our executive team and I am confident that he will be successful in contributing to driving Harmony`s strategy,” CEO Graham Briggs said.
Abbott would serve as an executive director until the end of December, after which he would serve as a nonexecutive director.
