JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – South African gold producer Harmony has appointed Beyers Nel as the general manager of its Kalgold mine, in the North West Province.
Nel has nine years experience in the mining industry, most of which he spent working at Harmony’s mines, more recently as a mine manger at Elandsrand mine. He obtained a Bsc Mining Engineering qualification in 2000 and recently completed his MBA in Chicago.
“The skills and knowledge that Beyers has acquired over the years at our mines together with his qualifications, has equipped him with the expertise to take on the role as general manager at Kalgold, where the method of mining is opencast. We wish Beyers a safe and productive future at Kalgold,” said Harmony CEO Graham Briggs.
