JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Diversified mining group Exxaro has appointed Chris Griffith to its board of directors, effective immediately, after Philip Baum resigned.

Baum had represented Anglo American on the Exxaro board since the company had listed in 2006, and as part of an unbundling and relisting of Kumba Resources.

"Reluctantly, it has become necessary for me to stand down from the Exxaro board owing to other corporate commitments that require travel outside of the country for extended periods. It has been a privilege to have played a role in Exxaro’s formative years of development and I am pleased that the board has approved the Anglo nomination of Griffith," said Baum.

Griffith is the CEO of Kumba Iron Ore, and is a member of the Anglo American Ferrous Metals Divisional Executive Committee and the former head of joint ventures at Anglo Platinum. He is also an active executive member of the Chamber of Mines.
