Gold Fields’ Muller appointed Implats CEO
JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Gold Fields executive VP for South Africa Nico Muller has resigned, effective March 3, to take up the position of CEO at Impala Platinum (Implats) on April 3.
He will succeed Implats CEO Terence Goodlace, who will step down on December 1.
“Since joining Gold Fields in October 2014, Nico has played an important role in fixing the base at South Deep and repositioning the mine for a sustainable future. In doing so, Nico has recruited a strong leadership team which will be able to take South Deep forward,” the gold miner said in a statement on Wednesday.
It added that the search for a successor had started.
“We would like to thank Nico for re-energising the mine and getting it to break even. We wish him well in his new role at Impala,” said Gold Fields CEO Nick Holland.
Implats commented that Muller’s technical know-how and strategic approach would serve Implats and its stakeholders well.
