Name and Location
Goe Fantro iron-ore project, Liberia.

Client
Cavalla Resources.

Project Description
The project consists of the Goe, Goe North and Firestone ranges in the county of Grand Bassa. It hosts a Joint Ore Reserves Committee-compliant inferred resource of 568-million, including 101-million tonnes of direct shipping ore averaging 57.2% iron at a cutoff grade of 50% iron. The project is designed for an estimated output of five-million tonnes a year with a mine life of 20 years.

Net Present Value/Internal Rate of Return
Not stated.

Value
The project will require a capital investment of between $160-million and $230-million. Cavalla has indicated that nontraditional sources of funding are being considered for the development of Goe Fantro.

Duration
Studies conducted by Cavalla indicate that Goe Fantro can be brought into production by 2018.

Latest Developments
The 2016/17 work programme will consist of infill drilling of the Goe and Firestone ranges to allow for upgrading the resource to the indicated or measured resource classification.

In addition, metallurgical studies, density measurements and environmental and social studies will be expedited to complete a scoping study and, subsequently, a prefeasibility/feasibility study. Initial exploration activities will include further drilling of about 2 000 m at Goe Fantro. The drilling programme will seek to define the distribution and extent of any potential mineralisation.

Subject to the results of earlier activity, the work programme for Phase 2 is expected to comprise phased drilling of any mineralisation defined at Firestone to delineate the orebody, closer-spaced drilling of Mt Goe and Goe North to generate geology and structural models that might be used in resource modelling, and infill drilling for further resource definition.

Other activities might include metallurgical testwork and further petrographic analysis to assist with detailed stratigraphic interpretation, starting a scoping study, environmental- and social-impact assess-ment, and a definitive feasibility study.

Key Contracts and Suppliers
None stated.

On Budget and on Time?
Not stated.
