JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Mining has started at the Devon gold mine, in the north-eastern goldfields of Western Australia, ASX-listed GME Resources announced on Wednesday.

Mining is scheduled to extract about 63 000 t of ore at an average grade of 6 g/t over the next five months.

The Stage 2 development would result in a cutback of the trial openpit, which was completed in May last year, and would allow the mine to be expanded to a depth of about 40 m.

Ore produced from Devon would be hauled 115 km to Saracen Gold’s Carosue Dam plant for processing. The first parcel of ore was expected to be delivered to the plant by mid-March.
