ITT Water & Wastewater South Africa, a water handling and treatment solutions provider, is on the brink of changing its name to Xylem to define itself as a 100% water solutions company,” ITT marketing manager Penny Darroll reports.

The name change will come into effect in South Africa on March 1.

Xylem is a botanical term, which refers to water transport tissue in vascular plants. “This reflects ITT’s core function as the company not only pumps water but also treats and transports it.”

ITT’s new tagline – Let’s solve water – represents the company’s dedication to identifying solutions for its customers along with supplying products and services.

ITT’s Product Offering

Even though ITT will change its name, the company will still provide the same dedicated brands and services it always has.

ITT is known for its Great and Grey submersible range of pump units that have been supplied for more than 25 years and are still supplied to various mining projects in Africa as well as mining project houses.

In the mining industry, the Great and Grey pumps are used for general high-volume dewatering and as shaft bottom pumps. The range offers users reliability as a result of the unit’s cast iron construction, higher flow capacity, hydraulic and electrical efficiency, floodproof installation with an integrated motor cooling system, a medium to moderate high head and a flow rate of up to 3 000 ℓ/s.

“The Great and Grey’s range reflects ITT’s quality, reliability and excellent service,” says ITT business unit manager Bennie Thiart.

Other well-known ITT brands include the Flygt premier submersible pump, mixer and mechanical aeration equipment for use in applications such as water and wastewater treatment, raw water supply, abrasive or contaminated industrial pro- cesses, mining and irrigation.

ITT also markets the Godwin fully automatic self-priming pumps, which can be used as temporary and permanent dewatering and liquids transferring solutions, and the Lowara stainless steel pumps that offer solutions for water, wastewater, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and fire protection.

For the disinfection of munici- pal and industrial water and wastewater, ITT offers its Wedeco ultraviolet disinfection and ozone oxidation systems, as well as related monitoring and control systems.

ITT’s product offering is in line with the international focus on treating water as a rare commodity not to be wasted but preserved, treated and reused,” says Thiart. ITT provides solutions aimed at preserving, treating and reusing one of the world’s most valuable natural resources.”

The company also boasts one of the largest submersible rental fleets on the continent, which comprises more than 600 units.

ITT’s rental fleet is an economic solution for companies in need of short-term solutions, or for those companies that want to reap the benefits of eliminating the immediate capital outlet and hassles involved in buying water-treatment solutions.

“With decades of experience in the water-treatment business and an arsenal of strong, reputable brands, ITT will uphold its commitment to providing a local service that meets its local customers’ specific needs, while leveraging its global network, technological innovation and application expertise,” Darrol concludes.
