TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – Canadian exploration firm Samex will scale back its work in Bolivia, in light of “continuing political uncertainties”, the firm said in a statement.

The Vancouver-based company will relinquish three low-priority properties, and has reduced its Bolivian office, staff and operational spending to a “care-and-maintenance level”.

The firm has no exploration planned for this year in Bolivia, and will focus its efforts on gold and silver prospects in Chile, Samex said.

It will, however, retain its interest in the Eskapa project, in Bolivia, where it has identified precious metal targets.
