PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Uranium miner Energy Resources of Australia (Era) has reported an 11% decline in uranium oxide (U3O8) production from its Ranger mine, in the Northern Territory, as mill head grades declined.

Production during the three months to March reached 593 t of U3O8, which was down from the 669 t of U3O8 delivered in the December quarter.

The miner stated on Monday that, while the mill grade was lower than the previous quarter, it was still in line with expectations.

Meanwhile, the company completed a strategic review on its Ranger project, and was undertaking further work to assess and optimise key elements of the review, which would be finalised in the first half of 2016.

The review was initiated after Era failed to gain approval for an extension of its Ranger authority. The current authority permitted mining and processing activities to run until January 2021, and allowed for access for rehabilitation activities until 2026.
