Engineering company looks forward to mining trade show
Diversified engineering company Vital Engineer-ing, which will exhibit at Electra Mining Botswana, reports that it will support its distributors at the event to create awareness of its stockholding, products, the extent of the product range and its uses, as well as product availability in the country.
Vital Engineering MD and International Steel Fabricators of South Africa (ISF) chairperson Dodds Pringle believes that the event, which will take place at the Gaborone Fairgrounds from September 3 to 5, will enable the company to showcase its capability, quality and commitment to service the Botswana market with continued vigour.
“We also aim to create an awareness of our contribution to improving the current safety of walkways, gratings, trench covers, handrails and stair treads with a variety of new serrated nonslip steel and galvanised products, as well as fibreglass materials,” he says.
Pringle notes that Electra Mining Africa is one of the top showcases that attracts a high degree of interest from various industries and end-users of Vital Engineering’s products.
“The trade show provides many South African and other international companies with an opportunity to demonstrate their quality product and technical-, performance- and knowledge-based skills in an environment that enables clients to interact with products,” he states.
Pringle adds that this interaction is far more effective than buying products that are displayed on paper and hoping the integrity of the products match the written promises.
“We have focused our indus- trial product range to suit the mining and agricultural industries, which are prevalent in Botswana. “We have also incorporated an architectural product element that covers infrastructural development. We hope this will provide a suitable product mix to demonstrate our company’s capabilities at the event,” he says.
Pringle notes that the company is looking forward to the attendance of a variety of potential clients who are not aware of Vital Engineering, its products and its ability to develop business partnerships in various industries and markets.
Meanwhile, he points out that there are several challenges facing the mining industry, including available finance to develop projects, stability and incentives to encourage mining, the cost of infrastructure to develop poten- tial mines, the evolution of labour demands and associated costs that bring into question the viability and security of mines, sound legal processes and the speedy resolution of claim theft and bullying.
“In our scope of supply and work, we can only observe from a distance. However, in my current position as the chairperson of the ISF, our association interacts with and advises the South African government on potential pitfalls in other countries.
“The idea is for the South African government to pass on its extensive knowledge and lessons learned to assist our Pan-African neighbours in developing their mining industries with a long-term, sustained view,” he adds.
Further, Pringle explains that the company is constantly evolving and extending its markets in many countries through identifying their needs and finding cost-effective solutions to their requirements.
“It is an ongoing challenge to do this, and our dedicated team of professionals always look forward to new challenges while they expand their knowledge in finding solutions to clients’ challenges,” he states.
He adds that Vital Engineering is positive about the emergence of the mining industry leading the growth in many Pan-African countries, as this paves the way for improved infrastructure, social upliftment, wealth creation and economic sustainability in various new industries.
“As South Africans, we have the great opportunity to participate and form new partnerships in these new Pan-African industries and internationally,” Pringle concludes.
