Benefitting from 46 years of experience accumulated since the inaugural event, Electra Mining Africa has a proven track record for driving sales, sales leads and building brand awareness. For many exhibitors, Electra Mining Africa is seen as a gateway into Africa for further business expansion.

Such is the positive industry support for the biggest mining, manufacturing, electrical and power trade show in Southern Africa, over 80% of exhibition space has already been sold with 10 months to go until the next edition of Electra Mining Africa, which is taking place from 10-14 September 2018 at the Expo Centre, Nasrec in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Electra Mining Africa is recognised as the best attended trade show in Southern Africa and is ranked as one of the world’s largest mining shows. It’s long history and credibility has ensured that it has consistently attracted an average of 34,000 visitors and with over 850 local and international exhibitors across 33,000 m2 net indoor and outdoor exhibition space.

“Although the mining industry is up against tough challenges and general industry remains under tight economic pressure, there is still a need for trade exhibitions and face-to-face interaction with clients,” says Gary Corin, Managing Director of Specialised Exhibitions Montgomery, organisers of the show. “Businesses need to find solutions that are cost effective, reduce operational spend and focus on streamlining operations for maximum benefit. That’s why Electra Mining Africa continues to be so important. Visitors will be able to source new products, equipment, machinery and the latest systems and services which will address these operational and business needs.”

“As exhibition organisers with many years of experience, we understand the exhibition platform and will continue to maximise the benefits for all stakeholders. We consistently review research findings as well as doing pre and post show analysis,” says Corin. “We know that over 72% of visitors are purchasing decision-makers and influencers and that 82% of visitors to Electra Mining Africa are there to source new products and learn about the latest trends and technologies.”

Electra Mining Africa 2018 and co-located shows Elenex Africa, Powerex and the Transport Expo, will be supported by a programme of content-rich conferences and free-to-attend seminars running alongside the exhibitions. The visitor experience at Electra Mining Africa is educational, enjoyable and greatly beneficial to all those who attend.

Recognising the importance of drawing visitors from African neighbouring countries, the African visitor programme will be expanded in 2018 to ensure increased visitor numbers from the continent. “We put in a massive effort to bring African visitors to the 2016 show,” says Corin, “and the campaign will be expanded for 2018.

It was an honour to host Charles Siwawa, the CEO of the Botswana Chamber of Mines, and Isaac Kwesu, the Zimbabwean Chamber of Mines President, at Electra Mining Africa 2016.”

Electra Mining Africa enjoyed official endorsement from the South African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (SAIMM), the South African Institution of Mechanical Engineering (SAIMechE), Women in Mining South Africa (WiMSA), the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA), the Lifting Equipment Engineering Association of South Africa (LEEASA), the South African Fluid Power Association (SAFPA), the South African Capital Equipment Export Council (SACEEC) and the Kitwe & District Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Specialised Exhibitions Montgomery is a member of the prestigious Montgomery Group, one of the most widely respected exhibition companies in the world with trade shows, consumer shows and specialist projects currently spanning Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
