ELB Awarded the Black Rock RTLS Project

Company Announcement - ELB Engineering Services Pty (Ltd) is proud to announce that it has been awarded the Rapid Train Loading Station for the Nchwaning Manganese Mine, which is part of the Black Rock Mine Operations, operated by Assmang Proprietary Limited, which is jointly owned by Assore Limited and African Rainbow Minerals Limited. The surface scope of the Project will be managed by DRA Mineral Projects (Pty) Ltd , a Johannesburg based engineering, procurement and construction management company.
Assmang’s Black Rock Mine operation, a large, underground operation consisting of various shafts and producing between three and four million tonnes of manganese per year, is situated in the Northern Cape Province in South Africa, approximately 80 kilometres north-west of the town of Kuruman. ELB has been contracted to design, engineer, supply, deliver, install and commission a Rapid Train Loading Stationand a 518m Feed Conveyor for the Black Rock Project. The Train Loading Station has been sized to accommodate the filling of a 104 wagon export rake in 2 hours. The Train Loading Station Feed Conveyor will be able to accommodate a maximum sustained feed capacity of 5500tph with a nominal feed capacity of 4200tph. “ELB has over a number of years developed significant experience and capabilities in the fields of materials handling from Rapid Train Loading Stations through to port terminals. An example is the RTLS at Khumani that was commissioned in 2011 and is considered to be state of the art and a leader in its field worldwide”, says ELB’s General Manager - Business Development, Tony Pinto. Our project team is looking forward to a strong working relationship with the DRA and Assmang teams.
