PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Junior Duketon Mining has more than doubled the mineral resource estimate at its namesake project in Western Australia, announcing on Thursday that the Duketon project was now estimated to host some 71 000 t of nickel, 26 000 t of copper and 144 000 oz of platinum and palladium.

The 115% increase in the mineral resource comes in the wake of a maiden mineral resource estimate being completed at the C2 deposit. The deposit was estimated to host some 5.7-million tonnes, grading 0.7% nickel, 0.04% copper and 0.14 g/t platinum and palladium, for 38 000 t of nickel, 2 370 t of copper and 26 000 oz of platinum and palladium.

Duketon told shareholders that the C2 mineralisation remained open along strike and at depth, and was located some 2 km north-west from the Rosie deposit, and some 3 km from the Nariz prospect.

All three deposits were located within the same granted mining lease, and Duketon said that there was scope to include C2 in any planned mining scenarios with Rosie, Nariz, or any other potential sources within the Duketon project, with the view to potentially increase the level of production or mine life of the project.
