Today (03 November 2016): Graham Trusler, CEO of Digby Wells Environmental (Digby Wells), a multinational environmental and social advisory consultancy, announced the acquisition of 80 % of the issued share capital of RPM Botswana, which will change its name to Digby Wells Environmental Botswana. The partnership became effective as of 01 November 2016, making Digby Wells the majority shareholder of Digby Wells Environmental Botswana, with 20% of the issued shares being held by the current shareholders Mrs. Christine Arthey (10%) and Mr. Richard Arthey (10%).
“Botswana is a natural choice for us to have a local presence. For a number of years we have been working on projects in Botswana supporting our multinational clients. We see tremendous potential for growth in this region for our service offering. The partnership with RPM is in line with our international expansion strategy of establishing a presence in favorable jurisdictions with local partners.” said Graham Trusler.
Digby Wells provides environmental and social services to the mining, resources, energy and agricultural sectors across Africa. Over the past 6 years the company’s expansion plans have advanced rapidly with the company opening offices in the UK, Jersey and Mali. Digby Wells is also a registered environmental and social services provider within the DRC and Liberia.
“This mutually beneficial transaction ensures that Digby Wells meets Botswana legal requirements and provides current and potential clients the best in local service and international best practice. In addition it gives both the management and staff of RPM opportunities to grow and develop in an international organization.” commented Trusler. “Richard Arthey is a successful entrepreneur and founder of RPM and will continue to head up the Botswana business. He will sit on the Digby Wells Group’s Executive Committee and will be an integral member of the team that will help to determine and implement the company’s strategic objectives.”
Richard Arthey pointed out that “in the past 10 years we have seen our business double in size, and it made sense for us to look for a partner that will assist us to leverage further growth opportunities. When speaking to Digby Wells it soon became clear that there would be a transfer of knowledge and systems. As our people will now be able to access opportunities across the Digby Wells Group, their scope and exposure is widely increased. Our Clients will benefit from the skills base that resides within Digby Wells, while we will introduce our wealth of knowledge in the oil & gas market. Our award winning work in landscape architecture will be combined as an offering with the mining rehabilitation team”, said Richard Arthey.
“This transaction has taken some time to conclude, over the years we have worked very closely with RPM on a number of projects. They understand our values and have been exposed to our company culture. RPM is a partner who shares our vision and we are pleased to partner with them in advancing both company’s growth plans.” said Adrian Reynolds, Chairman of Digby Wells.
