Ransome has over 12 years of exploration management experience in Africa, including more than five years' experience in West Africa, where he has worked in Sierra Leone, the Democratic Republic of Guinea, Liberia and Benin, primarily in diamond and gold exploration.

During the last year, he has worked as a consultant for Diamond Fields International, where he has been responsible for developing the company's offshore exploration programmes in Liberia, Madagascar and Zambia, assessment of potential projects as well as in day-to-day management of the company.
