Mine safety equipment producer Dok-Ing reports that the Croatia-made XLP dozer is used in well-known platinum mines in South Africa, with the company currently working on the research and development (R&D) of new mining equipment, tools and vehicles.
“The company has [extensive] cooperation with Anglo Platinum, where the XLP dozer already operates. We supply the US market with our demining machines as well as Australia and many other countries,” says Dok-Ing project manager Zlatko Pavicic.
He adds that company’s intense activity in the underground mining industry is resulting in further R&D activities, as well as the development of a new generation of machines and vehicles, and the production of tools for various applications.
All the company’s products will be promoted at this year’s Electra Mining, with the MVD extralow profile dozer set to be on display.
“With the growth in the mining industry, it is important that we promote our products to the industry to create an awareness of how our machines can improve production and safety within mines.
“The application of new technologies to manufacture tools and machinery will result in the reduction of direct and indirect costs of operating mines daily and improve working conditions and occupational safety,” says Pavicic.
Dok-Ing designs and produces remote-controlled equipment for the safety of personnel in the mining, military and firefighting industries.
Its key products are the MVD extralow profile dozer for the mining industry, the MV-4 and MV-10 mine clearance systems for the military, and the Jelka-4 and Jelka-10 firefighting systems for the firefighting industry.
The company was established in 1991, in Zagreb, Croatia, and has won several awards over the years for innovation and excellence in design. Currently, about 150 people are employed at the factory in Croatia. Dok-Ing has also opened branches in South Africa and the US.
