Accurate reporting and a high credibility rating continue to be the hallmarks of Creamer Media’s publishing effort, according to a survey completed by nearly 2 000 readers of Engineering News, Mining Weekly, Polity and Research Channel Africa.

During the reader survey, conducted during May, June and July this year, the vast majority of readers scored Creamer Media 8 out of 10, or higher, for “credibility and integrity” and for “accuracy of technical content”.

The survey garnered feedback on a wide range of Creamer Media publications, including print, online, email, mobile, video and research products. It allowed readers to express positive as well as negative aspects of their experiences in using Creamer Media’s various news platforms.

“It is very heartening to hear back from our readers, especially when they provide us with compliments and praise, as it allows us to know that we are on the right track. It indicates, too, that we are fulfilling our mission to provide readers with credible news they can use in their daily business decision-making,” enthuses Martin Creamer, publishing editor and founder, in 1981, of Creamer Media.

“We also take criticism and reader suggestions very seriously, as such feedback provides us with some excellent ideas for improving our publications. In fact, as a direct response to the suggestions offered by a number of readers during the recent reader survey, we have implemented a much slicker online article enquiry system. “The new system allows our online readers to click on an ‘article enquiry’ link at the foot of relevant articles in order to find out more about the issues reported on in the article. Such developments improve our efficiency and have the potential to provide an invaluable service to our readers and sources, rapidly expanding their business connections.”

Generally, the reader survey has reinforced Creamer Media’s understanding of the demographic make-up of its readership base, which remains composed mainly of key decision- makers in South Africa’s private and public sectors, but which is showing strong growth in the rest of Africa, as well as globally.

Engineering News has a total readership, print and online, of over 90 000 readers each week, Mining Weekly has a total readership of over 80 000 readers each week, and the Polity website has nearly 20 000 readers each week.
