International gold producer, Mundo Minerals Limited (ASX Code: MUN and MUNO) (“Mundo” or “the Company”), is pleased to announce that it has today appointment Mr Christopher Chalwell to the Board of Mundo as a Non-Executive Director.
Mr Chris Chalwell is a graduate of the Kalgoorlie School of Mines; holds a Company Directors Diploma & has recently returned from completing the intensive Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program in Boston. Mr Chalwell is widely respected as a strong leader who demonstrates a high degree of integrity, challenge and drive.
Mr Chalwell is a founding Director of Dempsey Minerals an ASX listed mining exploration company based in West Perth; was recently appointed as Chairman of Railtrain Pty Ltd a private rail operation, training & maintenance company and is a Director of Industrial Foundation of Accident Prevention (IFAP); an independent non for profit member based organisation providing leading safety solutions to industry; training over 18,000 people per annum primarily to the mining and oil and gas sectors.
Previous to these roles Mr Chalwell was a key member of the executive management team for SKILLED Group (2000 to 2011) and Project Director at Foxboro PTY (1997 to 2000) a global automation and process control company.
Key roles at SKILLED included Chief Operating Officer (COO) leading Skilled Workforce Services to grow revenues to more than $1B per annum (AUD), increasing profit margins and significantly reducing employee injury rates; working from 90 offices and employing 15,000 employees across Australia and New Zealand. Contracts under management included a broad portfolio of Australia’s major Mining, Oil & Gas and Industrial houses.
As Foxboro Project Director Chris combined his technical and project management knowledge to lead a range of significant projects including the Brownfield’s coal to gas conversion of the Mica Creek Power station and Greenfield’s construction/delivery of major process technology packages for the Pasminco Century Mine and Port in far North Queensland, time was also spent in re-engineering solutions for these projects in USA.
Mr Chalwell also has past experience (pre 1997) with process plant operations as Designated Resident Mine Manager and in delivering mine-commissioning activities. He has acted as Clients Representative participating in and leading technical studies, contract negotiation, contract appraisal, through to award and is passionate about safety leadership and zero employee harm.
