JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) - The board of TSX- and NYSE-listed uranium miner Cameco has appointed Kathryn Jackson as a director, effective January 1, 2017.

Jackson, who is currently a corporate director and a former senior VP and chief technology officer for titanium supplier RTI International Metals, will stand for election at the next annual general shareholders' meeting.

She has extensive senior management and board experience in highly technical industries, including nuclear power generation.

As senior VP and chief technology officer for RTI International Metals, Jackson had oversight of metallurgical technology, as well as product and manufacturing activities.

Jackson also held the position of senior VP and chief technology officer at nuclear power company Westinghouse Electric Company, where she was responsible for research and development, as well as environmental sustainability initiatives.

"I am pleased to welcome Jackson to Cameco's board of directors. Her extensive technical knowledge and business experience on both the utility and supplier side of the nuclear industry in the US will be valuable to our board and the company," noted Cameco chairperson Neil McMillan.
