JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Aim-listed Bushveld Minerals on Thursday said further drilling undertaken at its Bushveld iron-ore project, in the Limpopo province, had confirmed the site’s resource potential.

The group, which hoped to prove a one-billion-ton resource at the iron-ore project, noted that a further 926 m of drilling on the vanadium-rich main magnetite layer (MML) had been completed.

This followed the completion of 1 525 m of diamond drilling in December, during which a 107-million-ton resource increase was reported.

The iron-ore- and tin-focused minerals development company aimed to extend the MML resource along strike and increase the confidence level of the resource.

Assay results for most of the boreholes reflected consistency in grade, thickness and depth.

"These results, once again, confirm the remarkable continuity of geological features and grades of the titaniferous magnetite layers of the upper zone of the Bushveld Complex in the region,” commented Bushveld Minerals CEO Fortune Mojapelo.

The group expected to publish an updated mineral resource statement during the first quarter of 2013.
