Brockman gets port access
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Junior Brockman Mining has secured port access at the Utah Point bulk handling facility, in Western Australia, for the first stage of its Marillana iron-ore project.
Brockman on Friday announced that it had entered into a multi-user agreement with the Pilbara Port Authority and a stockyard land lease for the use of facilities at Utah point, which would facilitate product shipment from the planned Maverick project.
Maverick is the first stage of the commercial development strategy for the Marillana iron-ore project, and will see Brockman mine some 83.3-million tonnes of ore over a 13-year period.
The mined ore will be beneficiated to produce 35.7-million tonnes of final product, with an ultimate production capacity of between 2.5-million and 3-million tonnes a year.
Construction is targeted for the second quarter of this year, and commissioning is slated for the first quarter of 2018.
Brockman said on Friday that in addition to securing port access, the company was also in the final stages of negotiating road haulage arrangements, and was in the final phase of selecting a preferred mine site contractor.
