PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Mining giant BHP Billiton on Thursday confirmed plans to list the new company containing some of its major assets on the LSE.

This listing would be in addition to a primary listing on the ASX, and a secondary inward listing on the JSE.

“We are pleased to offer an additional listing in London in response to the interest investors have shown in the new company. We continue to work towards completion of the demerger in the first half of the 2015 calendar year, subject to receipt of the necessary approvals,” said BHP CEO Andrew Mackenzie.

In August this year, BHP announced that it would spin-off some of its aluminium, coal, manganese, nickel and silver assets, worth an estimated $16-billion, into a newly listed company.

A final board decision on the demerger would be made only once the necessary government, regulatory and third-party approvals had been secured.
