Mining Weekly editor Martin Creamer played a key role in a television panel discussion that was beamed live into Africa and the next day rebroadcast in South Africa to let the continent know about some of the mitigating steps that some in the mining industry are taking during this tough period of global economic downturn.
The one-hour African Views show, which was hosted by SABC News anchor Tshepang Motsekuoa and produced by SABC News executive director Mario Antao, was recorded in the studios of the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) in Johannesburg.
Also on the panel were Sakhile Ngcobo of the world's largest diamond company, De Beers, and Patrick Craven, the spokesperson for the South Arican trade union federation, Cosatu.
