Construction, mining, development and engineering group Basil Read on Monday announced the appointment of Neville Nicolau as CEO and executive director of the company as from September 1.

Nicolau, a former CEO of Anglo American Platinum and a former COO and executive director of AngloGold Ashanti, was replacing outgoing Basil Read CEO Marius Heyns.

“We are delighted to welcome a seasoned executive of Neville’s calibre to Basil Read. The board looks forward to working with Neville to inject new energy into our efforts, as we continually improve business performance and the strategic transformation of the company,” Basil Read chairperson Lester Peteni commented.
