Project Description
The BRPM Phase 3 project is providing further replacement for Merensky production at the North shaft complex through the extension of the existing decline from level ten to level 15 at the mine boundary.

At steady state, Phase 3 will maintain the production level of North shaft at about 100 000 t/m.

Value
R1.409-billion. Project expenditure to date is R667-million, with a budget of R781-million.

Duration
The project started in November 2010 and is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2017.

Latest Developments
RBPlat’s Bafokeng Rasimone Platinum Mine Phase 3 project has moved ahead of schedule.

The project is 69% complete against a target of 63%.

At the end of June 30, the project was 66% complete against a planned completion of 59%.

“The project remains below budget, with expenditure for the quarter amounting to R55.3-million, and R722.6-million for the project to date,” RBPlat added.
