JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Australian explorer Auroch Minerals is ready to proceed to drilling at its Tisová project, in the Czech Republic, and aims to get its drilling campaign under way in mid-September.

The company has government approval for an initial 12 holes for 5 500 m of drilling at Tisová.

The drilling campaign will start with an initial four holes in the diamond drilling phase to examine the spatial distribution of the metals within the deposit.

The decision to proceed to drilling comes as Auroch recently received the results from the latest round of grab samples from the historic waste dumps at Tisová, which confirms significant grades of cobalt, copper, gold and silver.

Auroch CEO Dr Andrew Tunks said that the results from the waste dumps confirmed the potential for a polymetallic orebody.

“Further, our analysis of historic drilling at Tisová demonstrates the potential for a substantial tonnage orebody, with over 1 km of strike and dip confirmed in the data and more importantly, open at depth and along strike,” he added.

Auroch agreed to a nine-month option to acquire Tisová in July this year. The mine is located in the heart of the European industrial hub and has a long history of copper production.
