Atrum Coal appoints MD to progress Groundhog project
JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed junior Atrum Coal has appointed non-executive technical director Dr Eric Lilford as MD to take its 1.57-billion-ton Groundhog anthracite project through feasibility and into production.
Lilford, a mining engineer with 25 years experience, has served Atrum as a nonexecutive director since February last year and, until last month, was also corporate development director at an ASX-listed diversified mine, rail and infrastructure company.
Prior to this, he held the position of partner of corporate finance and national head of mining for Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, and was director of business development at diversified producer BSG Resources.
Lilford also served as underground manager for Randcoal’s Reitspruit and Khutala coal mines, where he was responsible for producing over three-million tons of coal from three operating underground sections.
His experience included the completion of both prefeasibility and bankable feasibility studies (BFS), having jointly managed the full BFS for the Nikanor copper and cobalt project, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
He later served as as nonexecutive director for London-listed company Nikanor, before emigrating to Australia.
Meanwhile, Atrum also said that CEO Lyle Hobbs had resigned.
