TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – Armistice Resources, which owns the McGarry mine, in Ontario’s Kirkland Lake area, on Tuesday said it had started shipping gold-bearing ore to QMX Gold’s Aurbel mill for processing, in Val-d'Or township, Quebec.

Under the terms of the agreement, QMX would be responsible for the handling, milling and refining of ore and tailings disposal from ore delivered by Armistice. The term of the agreement is for a minimum of one year and it specifies a minimum of 30 000 t of ore.

Armistice had an initial 10 000 t of development ore ready in stockpile to be shipped. Subsequent deliveries would be made in amounts of about 5 000 t/m.

"With the construction of an impermeable pad at QMX's facilities now completed, we have initiated shipment of the first 10 000 t of ore from our McGarry mine for processing," Armistice president and CEO Todd Morgan said.

Meanwhile, Armistice had also introduced a revised work schedule at the McGarry mine to enable the company to undertake a maintenance programme. While the company is carrying out this maintenance programme, crews would continue to work the ore headings, while hauling and hoisting material that had been stored underground.

This will make room for further stope development.

Armistice expected the maintenance programme to be complete by mid-August. While undertaking maintenance on specific equipment, the company said it would also do infrastructure improvements, mainly focused on improving ventilation.
