PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Diversified junior Aquila Resources has reported resource increases at both its Talwood coking coal project and at its Walton coal project, in Central Queensland.

At the Talwood project, the Joint Ore Reserves Committee- (Jorc-) compliant resource increased by some 76% from 246.5-million tons to 434.9-million tons. A maiden measured resource of 77.9-million tons was also defined.

Aquila said that a mining lease application over a portion of the tenement had now been lodged, adding that while the Talwood tenement had limited potential for opencut resources, the majority of the resource would be best suited to a shallow box-cut development for underground mining operations.

Meanwhile, at the Walton project, the Jorc-compliant resource increased by 18%, from 27.5-million tons to 23.3-million tons.

Some 14.4-million tons was classified as measured resource, a 98% improvement from the previous estimate, Aquila said.
