JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Engineering consultancy TWP has announced that it had entered into an alliance with the world’s largest platinum producer, Anglo Platinum (Angloplat), and two other engineering consultancies to target best practice, in terms of project delivery.
“By working together according to the partnering agreement, we shall be able to share best practice, experiences and processes, thereby increasing our understanding of the business and supporting each other optimally," said TWP executive head for engineering and projects Fritz Neethling.
The partnership between Anlgoplat, TWP, Hatch Africa, and Read, Swartman & Voigt (RSV) made it possible for these companies to plan their workload and resource use over a three-year period. The new alliance would secure the high-level skilled services of the consultancies, and would specify which project would be undertaken by which consultancy.
However, each project would be governed by distinct terms, and the consultant would be required to demonstrate its ability and commitment to deliver.
TWP was involved in the Paardekraal 2 shaft project, Waterval UG2 Phase 2 project, and the Rustenburg Platinum Mine Chemical Division (RPMCD) rehabilitation project.
Hatch was partnered at the Amandelbult 4 shaft and Concentrator project, and the Rustenburg base-metals refinery expansion project, while RSV was undertaking several mining-related projects, of which the Brakfontein,, Middelpunt Hill, and Townlands ore replacement counted.
