JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) - Gold major AngloGold Ashanti on Friday reported that one of its employees had died at its Kopanong mine, in South Africa's North West province.

Wire mesh and lacing crew supervisor Sabido De Brito Augusto sustained serious injuries when he was struck by a hopper during cleaning operations on Thursday.

De Brito Augusto was transported to hospital after the accident, but succumbed to his injuries.

De Brito Augusto was originally from Inhambane in Mozambique.
