JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Guinean President Moussa Dadid Camara has given gold producer AngloGold Ashanti the green light to reopen its Siguiri mine.
AngloGold Ashanti spokesperson Joanne Jones told Mining Weekly Online that the mine was back to full production on Tuesday morning, after a successful discussion between senior officials of the company and the President. The mine has been reopened without any conditions.
Siguiri was closed on Thursday after a senior official of AngloGold Ashanti did not attend a scheduled meeting with the president.
For the year ended December 2008, Siguiri delivered an estimated 333 000 oz of gold.
