Name and location Anglo Platinum Converting Process (ACP) Project, Rustenburg Project description The ACP project is designed to reduce sulphur dioxide emissions from 130 t/d to less than 20 t/d the Waterval Smelter complex in Rustenburg significantly and increase converting capacity. The plant incorporates new worldwide trends in smelter technology.

Value R1,45-billion Duration Scheduled for completion in 2004.

Description of main contracts Main components of the plant include six-in-line furnace, flash drier, dewatering and drying plant, acid plant, converter matte feed, raw material handling plant, slow cool plant, slag granulation and slag clean furnace equipment, slag mole and flotation plant and furnace gas cleaning area.

Client Anglo Platinum Latest development All major contracts have been awarded and the project is on target to meet scheduled completion of phase 1 in 2002 and phase 2 in 2004.
