PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Gold miner Doray Minerals on Monday announced that its gold production for the December quarter had exceeded expectations.

During the three-month period, the Andy Well mine, in Western Australia, produced 21 507 oz , at an average head grade of 8.2 g/t gold, bringing half-year production to 47 460 oz of gold.

Both the quarterly and half-year production figures were nearly 8% above guidance.

MD Allan Kelly said on Monday that the production performance at Andy Well over the first six months of 2016, put the company in a strong position as it moved towards the commissioning of its second high-grade gold operations at Deflector, also in Western Australia.

“Andy Well has delivered another strong quarter of high-grade gold production in excess of our expectations. Production from the high-grade Wilber Lode Stage 2 and Suzie Lode openpits has been very successful, with both openpits over-reconciling against forecast.”

Kelly noted that Doray was also excited about the results from recent deeper drill testing at the Wilber and Judy Lodes, and the potential impact they could have on extending the mine life at Andy Well.

Meanwhile, Doray’s yearly production and profit margins were set to increase once the Deflector project started production in mid-2016. The company was aiming to produce 140 000 oz between Andy Well and Deflector from 2017 onward.
