With 43 years of industry experience, ALCO-Safe is a leading supplier of high-quality electronic breathalysers and alcohol detectors and accessories in South Africa. ALCO-Safe supplies drug- and alcohol-detecting equipment to the mining and quarrying sector as well as to other major industries within South Africa.

To ensure that only professional-grade instrumentation is distributed, ALCO-Safe supplies alcohol detection technology company Lion and its US sister company, CMI.

Lion Laboratories pioneered the fuel cell breathalyser, making it possible for companies and the police to test persons accurately and fairly in a short amount of time. Lion Laboratories won the Queen's Award for Technological Achievement for the product in 1980.

The comapny continues to be a world-leading manufacturer of breathalysers and alcohol detectors and ALCO-Safe is the sole distributor of Lion breathalysers in South Africa.

ALCO-Safe is also the South African distributor for drug testing products and services provider Alere Toxicology. Alere Toxicology manufactures the user-friendly digital drug tester, the DDS2 saliva drug testing instrument.

In addition, ALCO-Safe also offers the following services:

  • Operator competence training for breathalysers and drug testing equipment.
  • Substance abuse awareness presentations.
  • Assistance in developing substance abuse policies and control pogrammes.
  • Full repair capability.
  • Information backup.
