ABM gets OK to mine Old Pirate
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed ABM Resources has received federal approval to start mining at its Old Pirate gold project, in the Northern Territory.
The approval from the Department of Environment followed the receipt of approval from the Northern Territory government, as well as the Environmental Protection Authority, and paved the way for the completion of amendments to the mine management plan and associated permits, allowing mining to start at the Old Pirate deposits.
ABM told shareholders that the company was finalising technical studies to support the lodgment of the amended mining management plans with the Northern Territory’s Department of Mines and Energy.
Earlier this month, ABM reached an agreement with a subsidiary of fellow-listed Tanami Gold to lease the Coyote gold plant and infrastructure, in Western Australia, to process ore from the Old Pirate operation.
The Old Pirate deposit was estimated to host a resource of some 1.89-million tonnes, grading 10.1 g/t gold for 611 000 oz.
